OTHER FORMS OF AGREEMENTS INCLUDE:

·         TREATIES must be agreed to by the U.S. Senate and ratified by the President. The United States and Great Britain ended the Revolutionary War with the  Treaty  of Paris in 1783.

·         CONVENTIONS often include many signatories and for which the original signatories encourage other countries to join long after the original agreement is reached. In 1973, for example, representatives of 80 countries agreed on a   Convention  on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) to protect rare plants and animals around the world.

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

-- Teddy Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States of America
